ITEC Freespool maintain their winning streak

President Clifford Robson reminded the anglers that charity begins on our doorstep and anglers should remember the needy families while anglers enjoy themselves at the waters edge.

The second league fixture of the Natal Fresh Waters Angling Association took place at Sanford on August 28. All six clubs fielded full teams of 25 anglers, eager to bag the prize money of R1000 and top the table before going into a month’s break before the next league in October.
Anglers started queuing at the main gate as early as 2am, securing places for best fishing spots. The draw of zones made it more exciting as anglers hoped their favourite E zone be pulled out of the bag.
Zones A, B and D were the zones for the day as the draw was completed. To some it was smiling faces and others were a bit disappointed but nevertheless the anglers were positive and ready to break the “voodoo” of poor catches as recorded by the previous league.
The dam once again produced dismal results and did not live to the expectations of anglers. Only the persistent and lucky anglers managed to produce nets at the weigh-in.
Once again Itec Freespool managed to secure victory and increase their bank balance on the day.
Points on the day were as follows: Itec Freespool 15, Riverside 9, Docrats 6, Dannhauser 5, Glencoe 2 and Chelmsford 2.
Itec Freespool anglers Ski Mohan bagged the heaviest carp of 2.840 and Roger Maharaj the heaviest barbel weigh-in at 1.020kg. Elated club president, Clifford Robson, claimed the club’s first prize with four points followed by Ski Mohan on three, and eight-year-old Liam Carolisen in third position with two points.
Log table at the end of league two:
League one: Itec Freespool: 12, Dannhauser :9, Glencoe: 9, Chelmsford: 8, Riverside: 0, Docrats: 0.
League two: Itec Freespool: 12, Dannhauser: 6, Glencoe: 3, Chelmsford: 3, Riverside: 10, Docrats: 8.
Total: Itec Freespool: 24, Dannhauser: 15, Glencoe: 12, Chelmsford: 11, Riverside: 10, Docrats: 8.
Itec Freespool once again went out on a charity drive by donating R2500 worth of grocery hampers to the needy in Newcastle. President Clifford Robson reminded the anglers that charity begins on our doorstep and anglers should remember the needy families while anglers enjoy themselves at the waters edge. The next club outing will take place on 13 September in zone C which will see the clubs champion of champions round in contest.
