Horrified Animal Anti-Cruelty League (AACL) officer Annamarie Koen gently cradled a massive dog in her arms this morning (Monday) as staff cut down 2 dogs that had been hanged in a tree.
Passersby reported seeing the 2 dogs hanging in a tree in the Driefontein area and contacted AACL staff.
The crossbreed dogs were evidently hanged yesterday morning. It appears that they were not killed prior to being strung up, and were left to slowly asphyxiate (suffocate).
When they arrived at the scene, AACL staff were greeted by the gruesome sight. They immediately set about cutting the dogs free. With tears in her eyes, Annamarie said, “How could someone be so cruel as to do this? This was not a quick death and the people who did this deserve no mercy!”
Annamarie was the one who cut the dogs down from their ghastly gallows.
The league knows who the culprits are, and say that legal action will be taken. “These brutal, callous criminals should be hounded to the ends of the earth by the justice system.”
