Vryheid Private Hospital – One step closer
A private hospital in Vryheid will be a great convenience to the medically insured population and private patients of Vryheid, bearing in mind that the closest private hospital is currently Medi-Clinic in Newcastle, which is approximately an hour and fifteen minutes away.
TUESDAY, September 1, marked an auspicious event on the Vryheid calendar.
The official documentation and symbolic handover of the project to commence with the building of Vryheid Private Hospital was given to the relevant shareholders after months of anticipation.
Vryheid Private Hospital will be located in Utrecht Street and will be a general private hospital with an acute surgical focus.

The hospital has been designed to contain a total of fifty beds and the design includes a casualty unit for emergency cases; a pharmacy outlet for both in-patients and retail clients; a radiology department; a pathology department; doctors’ consulting suites and a coffee shop.
Core medical services which will be provided by the hospital will include orthopaedics; general surgery; obstetrics and gynaecology; opthalmology; paediatrics; ENT and internal medicine. The recruitment of medical specialists is currently underway and several professionals have already signed letters of intent to be involved in the project.
