Crashes, collisions and calamity continue

SEVERAL accidents took place recently, with a number of patients being treated for injuries, ranging from minor to severe, by KwaZulu Private Ambulance Services.

On August 6, Vryheid Response and Newcastle Ambulance responded to a vehicle overturned 5km from Utrecht on the R34, where two patients sustained moderate injuries and were subsequently transported to Madadeni Hospital for further treatment.

One person was very lucky to escape with only minor injuries after he was involved in accident on August 7, in which his vehicle overturned multiple times on the Natal Spa road. The patient was transported to Vryheid Provincial Hospital for further care.

August 8: An accident on the R69 Hlobane road left two people with moderate injuries, after the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn, dropping it down an embankment with a 5m drop. Both were treated on scene and taken to Vryheid Provincial Hospital.

One person sustained minor injuries when he lost control of his bakkie and overturned on the Gluckstadt-Swart Mfolozi road. The patient was attended to at the scene and taken to Vryheid Provincial Hospital.

Six people were injured, one of them severely, when the vehicle they were traveling in overturned on the Mpofini road. All patients were stabilized on scene and transported to Vryheid Provincial Hospital for further treatment.

August 9: Rapid response from AbaQulusi Fire Department and Kwazulu Private Ambulance saw the quick demise of a fire in a garage in South Street. No pictures of the aftermath have been allowed pending the outcome of an investigation, but it is believed that the fire was started by some children allegedly playing with matches.

One person sustained minor injury when he lost control of his vehicle and collided with a tree, the patient was taken to Vryheid provincial hospital for further treatment.

August 10: Three people were very lucky to escape with minor injuries when their vehicle overturned on the Zungwini road, all patients were attended to on scene. It is assumed that the driver lost control on the loose gravel and, in an attempt to regain control, the left rear tyre burst, causing the vehicle to flip over.

August 11: A truck driver was exceptionally lucky to escape injury following an accident approximately 5km from Paulpietersburg, after he lost control of the vehicle, jack-knifed and veered off the road. In a miraculous turn of events, the truck came to rest only a few metres from a precipice.

August 13: One person sustained moderate injuries in a two vehicle collision near Lakeside. It is alleged that the driver of one of the vehicles failed to stop at a stop sign, which led to the collision.
