St Johns Church officially opens next year

A top delegation of the St John's Apostolic Faith Mission from Gauteng were very impressed with the work that has been done around the mission and the church

A top delegation of the St John’s Apostolic Faith Mission from Gauteng paid a surprise visit to Dundee to inspect the state of readiness of the church before it’s official opening in April, next year.
Lady Archbishop G Maragu was accompanied by the top executive of the church, led by the Senior Bishop, Dr Frank Ziqubu of Ladysmith, and Reverend Zwane of Durban.
They were very impressed with the work that has been done around the mission and the church. The church, which was built at the corner of Ziga and Cornhill Streets, started being built in June 2012. Since 1972, the members of this circuit were worshiping in the shack hall in Sibongile.
Dr Zandile Thabe and Judge Thabe, who are the grandchildren of the co-founder of this circuit, Mama Ngwenya, were congratulated by the delegation for their donation to build the church. They also thanked the spirit of Ubunye among church members.
Mama Ngwenya, who is 82-years-old, was thanked for her perseverance since 1974. Both Mrs Thabe and Mr Thabe said, “We had built this church in recognition of our grandmother, Mama Ngwenya and grandfather, Baba Ngwenya.” Baba Ngwenya passed away on May 3, 2008. “Later Mr Thabe and Mrs Thabe received a call from the Head Office in Germiston informing them that the church would be officially open next year.
The Sibongile circuit is involved in many programmes which includes a soup kitchen for community members.
This soup kitchen is used every second week of the month.
Mr Thabe and Mrs Thabe have employed about five young people to make blocks for the church. Another five people were hired to erect more buildings.
