A Careers Day was held for Grade R pupils at S. E. Vawda Primary School last Friday. The pupils dressed up for the careers they wanted to pursue after high school.

To give the pupils an idea about the possible careers they could pursue, Mahomed Iqbaal from Bhai Signtist gave a brief talk on what it was to be a painter, while Sister Geraldine Singh from Mediclinic Newcastle introduced the children to the world of nursing.

While the Grade R pupils planned for their futures, the Grade 7 pupils learned more about the environment.

Officials from the Newcastle Municipality and the Department of Environmental Affairs spoke to youngsters about the importance of recycling and the negative effects pollution had on nature.

Doing their bit to keep Newcastle clean, the Grade 7 pupils then had a clean up campaign where they picked up litter around the school’s property and the Paradise Sports Grounds.

Well done to all involved!
