Endumeni Mayor, Thulani Mahaye, accompanied by Councillors Dudu Ncala, and Lungile Mbhele, surprised ‘Mama’ Thabisile Madondo in the New Extension, adjacent to Sibongile, by presenting her a bed to help furnish her new house.
Mrs Madondo’s plight was recently highlighted when it was learnt that she had been sharing a shack with her grandchildren for the past 17 years.
With news that the shack was about to fall down, a new house was built for the Madondo family with the help of a generous benefactor.
However, Mrs Madondo still did not have a proper bed to sleep on and that’s when Mr Shabalalala, a businessman, donated the bed as a way of honouring this elderly lady during Women’s Month. Unfortunately, her new house is yet to have a toilet as no one in the family is working and they are unable to afford a proper toilet.
