Do you stop at red traffic lights late at night?

When you approach a red traffic light late at night, what do you do?

Okay, we all know driving at night can be scary, especially when you are alone in the car.

Does that, however, justify not stopping at a red robot (or, as our American friends like to remind us, “traffic lights”).

Is it okay to just approach the lights, then check if it is clear and drive through?

You know the robots we are talking about: Newcastle Road, the robots in Lyell Street, etc.

Recent debate in national media has highlighted the fact that no matter how late it is or alone you are, going through a red light will get you a ticket.

We wondered if local drivers think a fine is preferable to getting hijacked, raped or killed while waiting for a robot to change? Fill in our poll and see if you and the rest of Ladysmith agree!
