Glencoe Primary says no to bullying

Adults are often unaware of bullying but it is a reality in the lives of most of our children.

With the help of Glencoe Primary teachers and children the school underwent an anti-bully campaign hoping that it might make a difference in the lives of those around the school. Bullying constitutes a significant challenge for school safety, and undermines directly the creation of an enabling school environment that supports personal growth and development. Adults are often unaware of bullying but it is a reality in the lives of most of our children.

With mobile phones there are cases of bullying that follow the children wherever they are.
It goes against every child’s right to respect, safety and an education in a safe and nurturing environment, and given the effects, must be addressed.
Glencoe Primary have started their own campaigns to make each other aware of bullying and, rather than telling each other the difference between right and wrong, they will set an example through their own actions. We hope that through this we might save a few children the devastating effects of bullying.
Soccer
On August 6 Glencoe Primary played a friendly match against Biggersberg. It was a very fast start as Glencoe Primary scored within the first three minutes when Qiniso Magubane put it safely in the nets. Then only minutes later, Biggersberg also scored. Then Glencoe Primary boys got fired up and started playing as super stars.

From a set piece it was Sihle Vilakazi who scored a brilliant goal. Tails up and at the end it was Samkelo Buthelezi who put the final nail in the coffin with a wonderful goal.
That ended the match with a score of 3 – 1 in Glencoe Primary’s favour.
Thank you to Mr Biyela for setting up the match and also to Biggersberg for a great day.
