Two paws up for Dreamteam

For the Dreamteam, it was the culmination of extensive fund-raising efforts over the past few months, concluding with the Cause for the Paws dog show.

After months of intense preparation, the Memel Walk took place last Saturday.

For the Dreamteam, it was the culmination of extensive fund-raising efforts over the past few months, concluding with the Cause for the Paws dog show.

Overall, this fantastic group raised R68 000.

Reflecting on what the Dreamteam achieved, leader Susan Pitout said the experience was one not measurable in terms of money.

“It has been an awesome, awesome experience. We have made so many new friends.”

The funds accumulated by the Dreamteam will be split among the SPCA and the Ncandu Animal Clinic, for medical procedures and treatment for animals brought in by the SPCA.

This amount included R540 raised at Saturday’s dog show.

Shanti du Plessis of Amajuba Pet Barber confirmed the results, thanking all competitors who helped boost the Dreamteam’s coffers.

The top competitors are as follows:

Golden Oldies

In first place was Mandy with Helga, followed by Yolanda and Oortjies.

Best Biscuit Catcher

The three owner-pet combinations in this category were Shilo and Daisy, Tagan plus Bruce, and Mandy with Helga.

Waggiest Tail

Jakkals was the winner, prize received by owner, Retha.

In second and third place respectively were the combinations of Dawid and Ragner, and John with Ruby.

Prettiest Eyes

Tai and Simba scooped pole position here, ahead of Tracy and Sally, as well as Yolanda and Jessica.

Best Trick

The winners in this category were Clair with Boyka, followed by Tracy plus Sally, and Mandy with Ruby.

Scruffiest Mutt

Dawid and Skropie took first place.

Sharon and Maya were in second position, ahead of Bev with Smudge.

Mrs du Plessis also expressed her intention to host a fun dog show on an annual basis, to raise additional funds for four-legged causes.
