Cable theft increasing

"To avoid being a victim of this crime contact the police immediately if you see anyone loitering"

According to the emergency services the number of cable theft reports has been increasing over the past two weeks. It has been confirmed that the complainants refuse to report the cases to the police for further investigation.

It has been discovered that the act mainly occurs between 12am and 6am between Thursdays to Saturdays. Most recent cases have been reported in Wembezi, Mimosadale, Jacaranda Crescent, Richmond Road, Alice Bridge, Patterson Street, Alfred Street, Dahlia Road, Jasmine Road, Marigold Road, Larkspur Road, Verbena Road, Outspan Road and Macfarlane Street.

“To avoid being a victim of this crime contact the police immediately if you see anyone loitering,” urged Umtshezi Acting Municipal Manager Elphas Dladla.
