4 arrested for trespassing and possession of hunting dogs

Ladysmith police, as well as municipal security, made the arrests

4 men, aged between 25 and 40 years old, were arrested today (Sunday) for trespassing on the Qedusizi Dam property and also for possession of 13 hunting dogs.

Ladysmith police, as well as municipal security, made the arrests.

The dogs were not on a hunt when the arrests were made.

All the hunting dogs were taken to the Animal Anti-Cruelty League (AACL) kennels, where they will receive medical attention if needed. They will also be given food and water, which they are in desperate need of.

The dogs will be kept at the kennels for 14 days and if they are not claimed by the owners, they will be put up for adoption. The owners will also have to pay a fee of R30 per day per dog, which covers the cost of taking care of the animals by the AACL.
