One dies in vehicle crash near Blood River

Several people were killed last night in car accidents in northern KZN,
Last night just after 1am, paramedics from KZN Emergency Medical Services responded to the R34, towards Blood River, where a vehicle had reportedly overturned.
According to reports from paramedics on the scene, one person was killed and seven patients had sustained injuries, which ranged from critical to serious in nature.
The patients were stabilized by KZN Emergency Medical Services paramedics, before being transported to hospital for continued medical care.
In a separate crash in the Newcastle CBD, on Murchison street, a crash which reportedly involved two vehicles left one person dead and four patients were treated at the scene , before being transported to hospital, by the paramedics from a private ambulance service
The police are investigating the circumstances resulting in the crashes
