Arbor Park Primary School played host to five schools from around the district on Saturday during the school’s annual athletics meet.

Amajuba Primary, Busy Bee, Newcastle Senior Primary School, Curro St Dominic’s Academy, Utrecht Hoërskool together with Arbor Park Primary competed for top honours.

The schools fielded teams in rugby, hockey, soccer, and netball.

A panel of judges assessed each school’s performance and the best teams were crowned in this manner.

Senior international hockey player and referee, Michelle Joubert, was among the hockey judges, while former Springbok Sevens and Cheetah winger, Anton Pitout, judged the lads on their rugby skills.

Arbor Park Primary claimed top honours in many categories, however, it was the coveted U/13 rugby title that was most anticipated.

Utrecht Hoërskool finished third in this division, while Amajuba Primary took second.

Joy of joys for the hosts, as Arbor Park once again claimed first place.

Coach of the u/13 boys, Raymond van Niekerk, said it was a real pleasure having seen the lads take home the trophy.

“Throughout the season we have grown immensely as a team. We want to continue moving forward, and hope to make Arbor Park’s rugby one of the best,” he said.
