Eight years after he was gunned down in Sibongile, the widow of Grishen Bujram has again spoken out strongly over the wave of political assassinations that have rocked the Umzinyathi district.
Questions remain over many of these murders with Shirley Bujram convinced that the ‘master-mind’ behind the murder of her husband remains at large and is ‘protected by the political heavyweights of the province in the ANC’
“Councillor Peter Nxele was shot dead in his driveway for speaking out against corruption – just as Grishen did. Thandeka Nukani’s boyfriend, Bongani Shangase, is serving a life sentence for Grishen’s murder and was one of the accused in Councillor Nxele’s case.”

“Lots of promises were made to me by MECs when Grishen was murdered and the same promises were made at Vusi’s funeral. Those promises will not happen. When Grishen died, the party deserted us. They were too scared to even support us in court. The MEC said at Vusi’s funeral that ‘it is crooks who kill comrades’. That is a lie – these murderers are recruited by the ANC for ANC work.

Mrs Bujram said she is presently involved in a lawsuit and when she ‘emerges victorious it will be because of the strength that Grishen passed on to her.’
She confirmed that KZN violence monitor, Mary de Haas, is currently investigating the alleged corruption in Endumeni in the allocation of RDP.
