Woman fights off armed attacker

Not letting her fear control her emotions, the woman suspected something was amiss and instead of allowing the men to hoodwink her, she fought them off

When faced with danger and unfamiliarity, a woman from Loskop did not flee but rather fought. The woman was at home in the Tatane area in early June when at about 8.30pm she heard voices outside.

When she went to investigate, she was met by four unknown men, one man pointed a firearm at her. The men identified themselves as police officers who were looking for a firearm. Not letting her fear control her emotions, the woman suspected something was amiss and instead of allowing the men to hoodwink her, she fought them off.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel TM Mabaso explains: “The woman decided to fight back by grabbing the firearm pointed at her. She fought with the suspect until he fell down, even though he managed to keep the firearm in his possession. When he woke up, he ran away. The suspects only managed to run away with her cell phone and a DVD player, which was later discovered on the road.”

A case was opened at the Amangwe Police Station. No arrests have been made and police investigations continue. “Every woman should be proud of this act of bravery shown by this woman, mbokodo,” concluded Lt Col Mabaso.
