6 suspects, aged between 26 and 43, were arrested for possession of dagga on Tuesday.
The arrests were the result of crime prevention activities being carried out by the Upper Tugela Borderline Control Unit along the Dukuza / Bergville road.
The officers spotted a suspicious-looking minibus with six passengers inside. After stopping and searching the vehicle, they found three large bags of dagga.
The dagga weighed in at around 55kg and has a street value of around R60,000.
The Quantum minibus was seized.
The suspects appeared in the Bergville Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday on charges of possession of dagga.
