SILINDILE Zulu (25), whose story appeared in the Vryheid Herald at the end of March, has made it to the Top 16 finalists for the Miss Commonwealth SA 2015 competition. This means she will be competing in the Grand Finale on September 12 in Gold Reef City.

At the finale, the title of Miss Commonwealth SA will be decided, and that person will represent South Africa at the Miss Commonwealth pageant in London in November.

Silindile, an ex-pupil of Vryheid Public Primary School and Vryheid High School, is currently completing her Honours Research in Town and Regional Planning at University of Pretoria. She said that she is so happy to be representing her home town Vryheid, and added, “I am passionate about our country and people of SA, and I believe that people shouldn’t give up on their dreams! I also believe that you are never too old and too young to start dreaming.

“I am so excited that as a finalist I have already started living my dream, that of giving back to my community.

“Also, I just want to thank everyone who helped me get through to the finals; my sponsors: Capri Nova Computers, Varsity Laundry and Modular Innovations.

“I am still asking for support from everyone at home.”
