Pastor Zulu- gone but not forgotten

His last statement signalled the end of a heartfelt interview, but not the end of the road for a grieving family who lost a father, a pastor and a husband.

Two months after the tragic death of Pastor Zulu, Major Piet Semeno of the Salvation Army has spoken out about the life and work of the beloved pastor.
Pastor Zulu served his congregation in Ezakheni for approximately six years, bringing love, joviality and dedication to his preaching every Sunday morning. Major Semeno described him as a ‘gentlemen, one who was always sweet and who brought humour to any situation’.
“Even if something was a serious matter, he would make it a joke,” Major Semeno recalled.
Major Semeno’s voice filled with pride and emotion when he spoke about Pastor Zulu being a good musician and loving the Sunday School children.
When Pastor Zulu wasn’t spreading cheer and goodwill to his congregation, he was a businessman who sold perfumes, a husband, and a father to an 18-month-old baby.
The church was deeply saddened when the news of his life being cut short was given to them. Major Semeno explained, “we, as the Church, were deeply saddened and shocked, but we also came to realise God works in mysterious ways. If it is his will it must be done. “We lost a special person. This is the work of the devil and we hope and pray justice will be served.”
When asked his thoughts on the judgement of bail being denied, his voice lit up and exclaimed that it brought joy and excitement. He hopes justice will be served but also wished to remain non-judgemental.
He concluded by saying “we, as the Salvation Army, are hopeful for justice to be served but we cannot judge the accused as they are still innocent until proven guilty.” His last statement signalled the end of a heartfelt interview, but not the end of the road for a grieving family who lost a father, a pastor and a husband.
