Illegally parked trucks will pay hefty fines in the future

Mayor, Afzul Rehman said the parking of trucks on the vacant land was illegal and those guilty would soon be facing the consequences of their actions.

The parking of trucks on a vacant piece of land at the corner of Hardwick and Murchison streets has become a thorn in the proverbial flesh.

Although not impeding traffic flow, there have been negative implications. “Drivers do repairs on their trucks when they park here and when they leave, they just leave the old spares behind,” complained a resident.

Another resident claimed drivers were littering. “When the wind comes up, packets and other mess from their lunch blow into our yards.”

Apparently the trucks also cause excessive dust.

“We have complained but nothing has been done,” one resident claimed.

Mayor, Afzul Rehman said the parking of trucks on the vacant land was illegal and those guilty would soon be facing the consequences of their actions.

“This damages kerbing on verges and makes the place unsightly and this goes for all the other public areas. The traffic department will be asked to fine owners,” Cllr Rehman warned.
