2 burglars to serve jail time

Colenso Detective Services officers recently saw two housebreaking suspects sentenced to jail time.

The first accused, 23-year-old Sandile ‘Gindoyi’ Mahlobo, was sentenced at the beginning of this month after he stood trial in the Colenso Magistrate’s Court for housebreaking and theft.

On February 27, he broke into a farm along the R103 and stole items which included jewellery, a firearm and ammunition. After an in-depth investigation, police traced and arrested Mahlobo for the crime.

Most of the stolen items were recovered. Mahlobo was sentenced to 3 years’ imprisonment for the possession of an unlicensed firearm, 5 years for housebreaking and theft, and 3 years for the possession of unlicensed ammunition.

The case was investigated by Constable Sithabiso Madondo.

In two other cases of housebreaking which occurred in the Markfill Ekuthuleni area, 25-year-old Nhlahanipho Hamilton Ngwane was convicted on Tuesday, May 12, in the Colenso Magistrate’s Court.

After investigation by Constable Ndumiso Mswane, the suspect was arrested and the stolen property recovered. Ngwane was sentenced to 3 years’ imprisonment on two counts of housebreaking and theft.
