UNITE: Vote Newcastle as KZN’s top town

Our town is in the running towards becoming a provincial winner.

It’s official – Newcastle has been shortlisted in the Kwela Town of the Year competition.

This means our town is in the running towards becoming a provincial winner, with the chance of representing KwaZulu-Natal against the eight other provinces in the finals.

However, we’ve got some competition!

Alongside Newcastle as one of three shortlisted towns are Nottingham Road and Cathkin Park, all vying for the chance to bear the flag of KZN.

Your vote can make the difference!

The voting lines have opened and voting closes at noon next Tuesday (May 19) – SMS the word Newcastle to 33157 at a cost of R1.50 per SMS.

A total of 30 votes are allowed per cellphone number.

If Newcastle yields the highest number of votes of the KZN shortlisted, Kwela will shoot a documentary to further market the town ahead of the finals round.

As it is, Newcastle has never before reached the second round.

Johan Pieters explained his reason for fully promoting the competition, not least of all the financial gain our town can receive through extensive marketing campaigns offered to the winner of the competition.

“I’m passionate because I believe this is the best town to live in. It’s between a town and a city and is close to Durban, Johannesburg, the Free State and more. It is perfectly suited for business and pleasure!”

All residents, businesses, corporates and institutions are urged to cast a vote for Newcastle.

“Please vote because this is a team effort. We need everyone’s help!”
