Behind every disability there is ‘this ability’

The aim of the This Ability event is to create a platform for the community to interact and have fun with people with special needs.

The Project Life fundraising team will host a Special Needs Athletic Programme (SNAP) event at Lambert Park, Estcourt on May 30.

The all-inclusive programme will ‘marry’ the special needs of the pupils at Project Life and ‘normal’ individuals.

The aim of the This Ability event is to create a platform for the community to interact and have fun with people with special needs.

The event seeks to highlight the fact disabled individuals are able to function either independently or co-dependently and perform well as part of a team.

“Let’s unite to encourage these individuals to know we accept and embrace them the way they are. In future I hope that this event can be a two-day event, but that can only be determined by the success of this one, so I have my fingers crossed, ” said Desiree Moonsamy of the Project Life team.

The team will use the funds raised to purchase bathroom items for a disabled man residing in Estcourt.

“Businesses, schools, family and friends are all welcome and encouraged to participate,” concluded Ms Moonsamy.

Individuals with therapeutic or rehabilitation needs are encouraged to come forward and seek help, sooner rather than later.
