AK47 used in vicious taxi murder

Khuzi Hanson Khumalo, a well known taxi owner, was mercilessly gunned down at his Section 5 Madadeni home

Yet another murder has been committed believed to be in connection with the apparent taxi war in Newcastle.

Khuzi Hanson Khumalo, a well known taxi owner, was mercilessly gunned down at his Section 5 Madadeni home on Sunday at around 3pm.

Madadeni police are currently investigating the matter.

Police spokesperson, Captain Shooz Magudulela said he could not confirm the motive of the killing yet.

“It is alleged that the deceased was attacked with a rifle and shot dead in his yard,” said Capt. Magudulela.

His body was riddled with bullet holes and 12 casings were found outside his home, with a further three cases found within his yard.

Capt. Magudulela did not divulge any further details regarding the case.

Sources confirmed that Mr Khumalo was playing a pivotal role in addressing the current rift within the taxi industry.

“He was a good man who was working to help everyone out. He was willing to compromise to make things better for all the taxi organisations in town,” claimed a source.

While the police have not confirmed the link to the current taxi violence, sources within the taxi industry were adamant the killing was just another display of meaningless violence for money and power.
