Three die in Nquthu bakkie crash

KZN Emergency Medical Services paramedics have responded multiple incidents over the weekend which have left at least 15 people dead in the province.

KZN Emergency Medical Services paramedics have responded multiple incidents over the weekend which have left at least 15 people dead.

In the Umzinyathi district in the Hlazakazi area near Nqutu, a  small bakkie, reportedly overturned, this resulted in three deaths and left a further three patients with life-threatening injuries. Another four patients sustained only minor injuries. After being stabilized by KZN EMS paramedics ,the patients were transported to hospital. One of the patients was then later transferred to Madadeni hospital by one of our Advanced Life Support paramedics for further care.

In the Zululand distric,t near Louwsbur,g a bakkie, with over 20 people on board, apparently overturned on one of the gravel roads in the area. Another car then apparently crashed into the patients who had just landed on the road.” Sadly at least four patients died at the scene, three of the patients were critically injured. A further 22 patients had sustained mostly serious injuries. KZN EMS paramedics, worked frantically to treat the injured patients, before transporting them to Vryheid hospital,” said EMRS spokesman, Robert McKenzie.
