Emnambithi/Ladysmith Mayor Vincent Madlala, along with other ward councillors and officials, introduced a contractor to the community of Peacetown (Ward 15) and Watersmeet (Ward 16) in the Kirkintullock community hall on Wednesday last week.

These areas currently have no electricity and the mayor and councillors were there to introduce the contractor who will undertake the job of installing electricity at their houses. Ward councillors TP Makhaza and M Zwane were present at the meeting.

Mayor Madlala officially introduced the contractor and in his speech, he said to the community that the municipality was very happy to present the electricity project that was long overdue. He mentioned that Emnambithi/Ladysmith Municipality had allocated R8 million for this project, which is aimed at changing the quality of life in the community.

The contractor will start on April 28.

This project is expected to be completed at the end of June this year.

Community members turned up in numbers to witness the introduction of the contractor, and thanked the municipality for bringing them what they have been wishing to receive for many years now.
