Update: Two crocs still missing

It is very likely that the crocodiles have made their way into the Tugela River

Two juvenile crocodiles are still missing after a truck was stopped on Monday night on the N3 near the Winterton turn-off. Crocodiles were seen falling off  the truck they were being transported in.

Yesterday (Tuesday), KZN Ezemelo Wildlife officials were in the area searching for the two missing crocodiles, but the search was in vain.

It is very likely that the crocodiles have made their way into the Tugela River.

Speaking to reptile handlers from Croc City South Africa, they say that the crocodiles will be fine as they have very strong immune systems. With only two crocodiles missing, they will not impact on the environment they are now in.

At 1 year old, the two crocs will mainly be eating fish, birds and rats. It is only when they get to about 3½ metres long will they possibly consider humans as a food source.
