Load shedding impacts on water supply

"The Biggarsberg reservoir relies on water pumped from Tayside and depletes rapidly when this supply is cut during load shedding. This causes water cuts throughout the higher lying areas of both Dundee and Glencoe."

Load shedding is impacting on the town’s water woes. Pradeep Ramalal of Umzinyathi District Municipality confirmed that power outages are knocking out the Tayside pumping station that feeds the Biggarsberg water works.
Endumeni is fully reliant on water released from Chelmsford dam that in turn flows into the Buffalo River.
However, the extraction point at Tayside is also a victim of load shedding.
As there is no generator at the station when the power goes off, so does the pump.
Load shedding was re-introduced by Eskom last week with even Glencoe being cut off for the first time since the power crisis hit the country.

Hattingspruit crisis
The new rounds of load shedding have especially hard hit residents and businesses in Hattingspruit. Power was out for at least 10 hours last Sunday and often cuts total six hours in the village.
