Mrs JR Singh may have been born on April Fool’s Day, 95 years ago, but her teenage spirit is no joke.
With an informed sense of humour and a memory that allows her to remember the cell-phone numbers of her legion of children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, Mrs Singh has lived through decades of memories, all of which make for amazing stories. In the front row of historical and cultural changes, she was witness to events that many will only know from others’ accounts.
Her charisma, charm and incredible wit leaves young and old in awe of her compassion, humility and vivid memory.
A seamstress by trade, Mrs Singh is an entrepreneur, having produced many a fine wedding dress from her cutting table… The same table used to thrill guests and family with her culinary wonders!
When she isn’t whipping up family favourites to delight the palates of her loved ones, Mrs Singh plays an active role in the community, serving as a leader and adviser. As a founding member of the Sanathan Dharma Sabha (SDS), she played an active role in its establishment and fund-raising drives. On the road to 100, Mrs Singh continues to give old age a run for its money, forging ahead with fierce determination.
