Endumeni Municipality cleans-up Sithembile

It is unclear at the moment as to what will happen with the fencing at the cemetery that was damaged by the protesters.

Endumeni Municipality embarked on a cleaning spree in Sithembile last week. This comes after the area was left in a mess following the unrest that took place about a month ago.
Garbage had been scattered all over the roads.
Over-turned bins, broken bottles and remnants of burnt tyres are what remains in the area – a reminder of a hectic week never witnessed in the area in over a decade.
The unrest went on for more than three days but has since quietened leaving behind a dreadful reminder in the streets of what unfolded.
Motorists found it difficult to drive around as all roads were strewn with rubble.
Some residents took advantage of the situation as they continued piling up domestic litter on the corner of Masakhane and Endumeni Streets (famously known as Marchison). This did not only made the area look untidy, but it might have caused a health hazard.
General workers from Endumeni municipality were deployed to conduct the cleaning of Sithembile area the work may take up to two weeks or so.
It is unclear at the moment as to what will happen with the fencing at the cemetery that was damaged by the protesters.
