Community called on to aid the children of St Anthony’s

"I would really love to help, but I cannot do it all by myself," she said. Therefore, she is appealing to the community to help her aid the centre.

Estelle Cloete is determined to make a difference in the lives of children from St Anthony’s Child Care and Youth Centre.

Ms Cloete said she first came into contact with the children, when she recently saw them at her work place, Theku Plaza in Blaauwbosch.

“I love children and seeing them that day really touched my heart.”

She became aware the home needed assistance to care for the children.

“I would really love to help, but I cannot do it all by myself,” she said. Therefore, she is appealing to the community to help her aid the centre.

St Anthony’s is situated in Blaauwbosch and houses 81 children, who are either orphans destitute.

Mbongiseni Nzuza from the home said the centre needed as much support as possible.

“We need 20 beds for the children, bedding, as well as curtains and towels.

One of the most important requirements is food, as it is very expensive, he said.

Ms Cloete said she and her colleague, Nontokozo Nkala, would be available daily at Theku Plaza if people wanted to contribute to their cause.

“Once we have raised enough, we will then take it to St Anthony’s,” she said.
