Career Fair gets learners ready for the workplace

The aim of the fair was to equip learners with relevant information pertaining to higher education and training

Young and old made their way to the Ezakheni Career Fair which took place in Ezakheni recently.

The event was organised by a non-profit organisation called Ezakheni Ladder of Success.

The committee delegated two organisation members, Mabaso Mpendulo (additional member) and Mkhwanazi Nongcebo (public relations officer), to organise the fair and invite all the relevant people.

The aim was to equip learners with relevant information pertaining to higher education and training. The organisation’s goal is for school-going children to be informed about, among other things, career choices and programmes they want to enrol in, funding, minimum requirements for entry into higher education, and so forth.

Seven schools were invited to take part, but only four schools were able to make it. Co-ordinators and university students interacted with the learners, imparting valuable information pertaining to higher education and training.

This was the second such event hosted by Ezakheni Ladder of Success. The first was during the first week of school, whereby organisation members went to six high schools to conduct a seminar with the Grade 12 scholars. The Grade 12s were motivated to start “working hard” as early in the year as possible and encouraged to apply for positions in higher education as soon as possible.

The committee would like to thank everyone who took part, including teachers, learners and co-ordinators. Without them, the fair would not have been the success it was.
