Boy steps on snake in Lobelia Drive

"The snake was grey-brown in colour and approximately 1.5 metres in length"

A boy was lucky not to be bitten after he stepped on a snake at his home in Lobelia Drive yesterday afternoon.

Residents of the home quickly contacted the Ladysmith Snake Removal team, with snake expert Fanie Cilliers going out to help.

Fanie did his best to locate the serpent that was ‘underfoot’, but it had obviously decided it didn’t want to get in anyone else’s way and had made a hasty departure. He searched the whole yard and even the neighbours’ yard, but in vain.

The boy said the snake was grey-brown in colour and approximately 1.5 metres in length.

Snake-man Fanie commented that, “The young boy was at the snake talk I gave to the students at Acaciavale Primary School and he kept everybody calm.” The boy evidently told his family what he had heard at school, and that helped everyone not to panic.

It seems that the school talks are really paying off!
