NATIONAL NEWS: Child killed on N2, severed leg found on the opposite side of the road

The body of the victim, believed to be a child no older than 10 years, was found lying in the opposite lane.

Earlier this morning, sister publication, the South Coast Sun reported a severed leg lay strewn across the N2 near the Isipingo off-ramp.

Traffic came to a standstill as Metro Police and police cleared the scene.

Netcare 911 media liaison, Chris Botha claimed the victim could have been struck by a vehicle on the northbound lane, and their leg, from the knee down, landed in the southbound lane.

Umlazi police have opened an inquest docket. Investigations continue.
