In conversation with Johan Ferreira

In Johan’s quest to bring a bit of the glitz, glamour and stars to Newcastle, he devised a plan for it all to come together. It is a programme with good food, great company and a celebrity.

With a list of great achievements under his belt including presenting the FIFA 2010 World Cup, Johan Ferreira is a well known TV personality.

His passion is sports, and sports reporting for SuperSport followed almost automatically.

Till today, Johan still carries the first SuperSport badge he was ever given in his wallet.

“I made it to TV, and I’m from Newcastle. Whoever says this town hinders you is wrong, because I know many people from small towns who have become respected personalities nationally.”

With the popular KykNET show, Dagbreek ending soon, Johan has made his way back home to Newcastle.

He still will be working for SuperSport and will be very much involved in television, but doing so closer to home.

“There are many things we take for granted in Newcastle, like no traffic, the family being around the corner and the relaxed lifestyle. I missed it; Newcastle has, and always will be home.”

The Newcastillian has an exciting new idea and project that he wants to bring to Newcastle.

This concept is something Newcastle has never seen before.

“Throughout my years working in the media industry and on TV, I have made contacts with many people South Africans will recognise. Famous sports people, TV personalities and a whole list of people, and I want to bring them to Newcastle!”

This is where the idea for In conversation with Johan Ferreira began.

In Johan’s quest to bring a bit of the glitz, glamour and stars to Newcastle, he devised a plan for it all to come together.

It is a programme with good food, great company and a celebrity.

“For the first programme, I am bringing along Riaan Cruywagen, who I’m sure many people will know as the face of news broadcast for many years.”

“He was a role model for me for many years, and an icon in many homes as I grew up. He was the face of TV, and he was with me during my last show,” explained Johan.

He agreed that Mr Cruywagen was a figure more aligned to an Afrikaans audience, but argued that he was known to almost all South Africans.

“I will be bringing people who have some value and worth to bring to Newcastle.”

The programme will include an interview between Johan and his guest, before the audience is given the floor to ask their own questions.

In conversation with Johan Ferreira, will take place on April 18 at Pine Junction from 5pm. The Blue Bulls and Sharks game will be screened on a big screen TV for all to enjoy after the interview.

Admission is R150 per person, and tickets are available from Johan on 082 734 6409.

All profits generated will go towards a special initiative dedicated to the upliftment of sports in Newcastle.

“For some people meeting Riaan Cruywagen is a dream. For some presenting live on TV is a dream. I want to show people that dreams can come true. I achieved my dreams, so can you.”
