Dagga-dealing suspect arrested

The dagga has an estimated street value of about R1000

An elderly woman was arrested on Tuesday afternoon after Ladysmith Visible Policing officers followed up on a drug possession tip-off.

Sergeant Mchunu, Constable Pillay and Constable Pachkowdie were conducting observation duties in the Illing Road area and their efforts resulted in the arrest of a 58-year-old female.

The woman was found with about a kilogram of loose dagga in her possession. The dagga was concealed in a bag.

The drugs have an estimated street value of about R1000.

She appeared in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, facing charges of possession of dagga.

Police are investigating the possibility that the suspect was trading the substance in the area before she was apprehended.
