Vryheid Landbou High School – Walk tall, live strong

Landbou's first team has once again been fortunate enough to be sponsored by Mutual and Federal. The company sponsored a number of things for the team. Landbou would like to express their gratitude towards Mutual and Federal for their ongoing support.

 

AS A testament of tall trees growing and reaching new heights, one can note that Landbou prospers from week to week.

Dinner with MEC of Agriculture: Mrs van Niekerk, together with other principals of agricultural schools and colleges, was invited to the Ministerial dinner of the Honourable MEC of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr VC Xaba, in Durban on Wednesday, March 11. Mr Xaba announced the future involvement of his department in the agricultural schools in the province. Involvement by the Department of Agriculture in Vryheid Landbou High School will be of immense importance for the schools future. It is therefore significantly important and very good news for the school.

Kovsies to be or not? On Thursday, March 12, the University of Free State graced Landbou with their presence and had a short talk with the grade 12 learners about studies and so forth.

MX+C=Y: This past week has also seen the Math Olympiad being written by 50 learners ranging from grade 8 to grade 12. This took place on Thursday, March 12.

A passion for singing: The Landbou choir had the opportunity to practice at the NG Gemeente, locally known as the Klipkerk. Accompanied by Namhla Zondi under the tutelage of the church pianist, Mrs Kleinschmidt, they practiced a number of songs.

Election of the new Governing Body: On March 6, Landbou had their elections for the new Governing Body. The body consist of teachers, students and parents of learners that are in the school. It also plays an integral part in the workings of the school and the decisions to be made by the school. Please also note that the next election date for the parents will take place on March 20. We urge all parents to please attend the meeting.
