Glencoe Primary playing blitz rugby

Glencoe Primary participated in a recent sevens rugby tournament held in Vryheid and took third place.
There were twelve teams competing against each other for the honour of tournament champions. Glencoe’s first match was against Nuwe Republiek’s second team and they managed to beat them convincingly with 20-5 in the allotted 10 minutes of play. Sandile Hlongwane and Samkelo Buthelezi scored twice and Anele Sangweni also scored one try.
In their second match, they came up against NRS’s first team and lost 5-20. Samkelo scored their only try. In their final match they played against Pionier Primary and was quickly behind with two tries. Mr Biyela and Mr Pretorius got the boys to gather courage and with true grit, made a comeback. Samkelo Buthelezi, with good teamwork, scored three tries and then in the final minute it was Sandile Hlongwane that gave us the winning try. Glencoe Primary won 20-15.
Science Unlimited Roadshow
Mr Swanepoel took 25 learners to the recent Science Unlimited Roadshow. The pupils were marvelled by the many experiments done by scientists from different universities in the country. Glencoe Primary participated in three events. First was the perception of science by the University of Limpopo and this helped learners to understand concepts in physical science better. Second was science physics by the University of the Witwatersrand.
Here the pupils were exposed to a lot of snap, crackle and pop experiments. Finally was Technology by the junior engineers for Africa were they taught the pupils about wheels and axles. The pupils had to construct an amazing motorised flywheel car and competed with each other to see whose car went the furthest.
