Settlers Park clubhouse broken into yet again

3 trophies were stolen, as well as 2 rugby kits valued at about R12,000

The clubhouse at Settlers Park was broken into yet again on Sunday night. The clubhouse has been broken into 4 times already, this being the fourth break-in since December.

All the copper pipes have been stolen and the whole place flooded as a result. Water pours down from upstairs and also through cracks in the ceiling. To add to the damage in the clubhouse, everything was turned upside down and thrown on the floor.

The room used by the Clover Leaf Bulldogs was ransacked after access was gained by breaking the door. 3 trophies were stolen, as well as 2 rugby kits valued at about R12,000. The cricket room upstairs was also broken into, with the gate completely ripped off and also cut. What was taken from the cricket room is unknown at this stage.

A couple of weeks ago, 2 televisions and a projector were stolen during the previous break-in. The building’s alarm system does not work.

Clover Leaf Bulldogs Rugby Club coach Christo Kruger is very disappointed. He says there should be security guards in place so that this can be avoided in the future.

To add to the fact that the alarm doesn’t work, there are also no door handles on certain doors in the building.

The Dog Unit (K9) responded to the scene.
