Dancing school coming to Dannhauser

Residents get ready to move to the beat of Bollywood.

Dannhauser youngsters could soon be dancing to the beat of Bollywood as plans to open a dance school in the area are underway.

Nikole Naidoo, a dance instructor from Newcastle, is bringing her Indian Bollywood dance school to Dannhauser, after she was approached by an eager parent.

Nikole has been dancing a mixture of classical and modern dance mixed with ballet from the age of four and now runs the Aja Nachale NN Dance School in Newcastle.

“Dance is not only about moving your body, it’s an art that we can use to express our emotions and is a great stress reliever,” Nikole said. I encourage adults to take up dancing as well as it is a form of exercise for the body,” she added.

Nikole aims to uplift arts and culture in the community and allow people to be freer when it comes to dancing. “It’s not a competition, it’s an art of nature. We want to promote dancing wherever we go and will continue to do so.”

Dannhauser resident, Sheevani Raghunundhun, is excited at the prospect of a dance school in town. Sheevani approached Nikole to open a dance school in town after her daughter, Ria (7), wanted to learn.

Sheevani encourages more parents to get their children involved and for adults to start dancing as well. Nikole plans to start the dance school in April, at the Dannhauser Hindu Temple.
