Letting their hair down for Holi Celebrations

Thursday night was definitely all about fun and putting differences aside in a wonderful display of frivolity

Hosted by the Sanathan Dharma Sabha (SDS), devotees gathered in Azalea Drive on Thursday evening for Holi Celebrations.

Young and old alike had a great time covering each other in different coloured powders as part of the “festival of colours” (or the festival of love).

Holi celebrations take place with lots of joy and verve throughout the country. The enthusiasm of the people reaches its peak and matches with nature, which is in full bounty at the time of Holi. It is the festive day to end and rid oneself of past errors, end conflicts by meeting others, and a day to forget and forgive. People pay or forgive debts, as well as deal anew with those in their lives.

Thursday night was definitely all about fun and putting differences aside in a display of frivolity in which people got in touch with their inner ‘wild’ selves and just let their hair down, so to speak.

This festival has gained much popularity in South Africa over the last few years, and Ladysmith is no exception!
