Blackbyrd at Vodacom Newcastle Winter Festival 2015

The talented young women promise to make the Vodacom Newcastle Winter Festival 2015 an even greater success than before.

All girl group, BlackByrd, will perform live at the Vodacom Newcastle Winter Festival 2015.

The dynamic trio took the music industry by storm with energetic performances and unparalleled talent since 2012.

Their popularity nationally has increased rapidly since the release of their critically-acclaimed debut album, Strong, which earned them four SAMA nominations for Best Adult Contemporary, Best Duo or Group, Best Producer and Best Engineer.

The trio walked away with the award for Best Engineer thanks to the talented Mark Beling.

BlackByrd made waves throughout South Africa when their first chart-topping single off the album, All for Me, aired extensively during Women’s Month in August 2014 and again during the 16 Days of Activism campaign.

Their second hit single, I Feel Good Today, reached the number one spot on both Highveld’s and Kfm’s Kia Take 40 SA Charts and Jacaranda’s Kia Top 20 Charts. It was also the theme song of the SABC3 morning television show, Expresso. Their third single, From the Bottom of My Heart, which features Craig Hinds from Watershed has received extensive air play across the country to date and is quickly making its way up the charts. BlackByrd’s polished and professional performances also include choreographed dance routines.

The BlackByrd girls provide a guaranteed formula for success that’s proved itself over and over again.

Among their many valued clients are heavy-weight corporates Sun International, Tsogo Sun, Momentum, Bidvest, Pick ‘n Pay, Spar and Checkers. The team made a big break at major concerts and high-profile events during the 2010 FIFA World Cup, upping their star power and popularity even more.

Recently, Tarryn and Tamsyn said goodbye to fellow band member and good friend, Samantha Heldsinger, who decided to part with the band as she is engaged to be married.

Tarryn and Tamsyn are delighted to welcome replacement Axene, who they have known personally and professionally for several years.

The young, blonde beauty happens to be the youngest SAMA award winner to date. At just 16, she won the award for Best English Pop Album.

The face of BlackByrd may have changed, but with Axene’s strong all-round contribution, their music continues to grow from strength to strength.
