49-year-old Dumisani Hector Zuma believes those who dare to teach must never cease to learn

49-year-old Dumisani Hector Zuma believes those who dare to teach must never cease to learn.  Mr Zuma was born and raised in Mooi River and later during his youth moved to Hlathikhulu. Once Mr Zuma completed his schooling career he went on to pursue Secondary Teaching Diploma in Eshowe.
After the completion of his tertiary studies Mr Zuma taught what were and still are his favourite subjects, Mathematics and Biology.
“I love the practicality of these subjects and how they are related to everyday living,” revealed Mr Zuma. Mr and Mrs Zuma and their two daughters relocated to Wembezi, and it was at Siphokuhle Secondary School where Mr Zuma’s teaching career began as he taught grade 10 pupils.
After some time Mr Zuma taught grade 12 learners at Estcourt Senior School and was promoted to Head of Department to oversee his main teaching areas, Life Science and Mathematics. After a change of schools Mr Zuma was promoted to Deputy Principal of Bhekathina High School and was appointed acting principal.  “I take a lot of interest in what I apply my mind to and I believe that my dedication and determination has channeled my career path,” expressed Mr Zuma.
“I applied for the post of Principal, which ML Sultan Primary School advertised and on July 16, 2013 I was appointed Principal of ML Sultan Primary School,” recalled Mr Zuma. Mr Zuma’s efforts didn’t go unnoticed and one could say that being acting principal prepared him well for the up’s and down’s of being a principal. Mr Zuma was no stranger to the school as he was a member of ML Sultan’s School Governing Body since 2004 and ten years to the year he was appointed principal.
Mr Zuma lives by the following words “intellectually inviting.” He believes that all learners have the potential to do great things. “The school wants to create a learning environment for all societies to accept each other, ” said Mr Zuma sharing one of the many goals the school is working towards.  His students look up to him as a father figure.
