BREAKING NEWS: Gunfire after attempted KFC robbery

The police rushed to the scene, but the suspects fled in their vehicle. The attempted escape was cut short when police officers cornered the perpetrators.

Eight men, armed with firearms, stormed Kentucky Fried Chicken in Allen Street last night at 8.30pm.

According to police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Simon Luthuli, the men had intended to rob the fast food outlet. However, after ordering staff and customers to lie on the floor, someone alerted the police of the daring robbery.

The police rushed to the scene, but the suspects fled in their vehicle. The attempted escape was cut short when police officers cornered the perpetrators outside Ekhaya Lounge. W/O Luthuli claimed gunfire was exchanged and one of the suspects were injured.

“In total, three suspects were arrested. The vehicle in which the other suspects escaped in was found in Dannhauser,” W/O Luthuli said.
