Dealer’s high hopes shattered in drug bust

The estimated street value of the items found is about R20 000.

Members of the Newcastle’s Area Crime Combating Unit conducted a routine patrol in oSizweni on February 7 at around 9.30am.

An informant provided them with information on an alleged drug dealer in the area, prompting the unit to arrange a search operation.

The unit found 16 parcels of dagga with a net weight of about 8.8kg and a further 2.4kg of dagga separated into five plastic bags.

The estimated street value of the items found is about R20 000.

The suspect is expected to appear before a court soon.

Police thanked the community for their willingness to report criminal activity and assist in ensuring justice is served in and around Newcastle.
