The State of The Nation Address (SONA) is about to take place in Cape Town.

Are you eagerly awaiting the speech, or are you purposely using copius amounts of electricity in hope of a blackout.

With cellphone signals, at the Parliamentary building, reportedly being scrambled and police officials allegedly mistreating and abusing members of the Democratic Alliance (DA) and Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), it seems this year’s SONA will really be one to remember.

Hellen Zille’s DA boycotted the 255 metre red carpet, but nonetheless the party members were dressed to perfection. In fact, one of the party’s Members of Parliament, Marius Redelinghuys was being thrown into the back of a police van for apparently questioning the police on the mistreatment of DA supporters.

Dressed in their bright reds the EFF have landed ensuring their arrival was known with songs about President, Jacob Zuma ringing out. The party seems determined even though major rifts have been uncovered within its ranks in the last week.

Police members have also allegedly physically removed many of the EFF’s supporters from the parliamentary building.
