An Opel Corsa crashed into an “excavation site” in Klipbank Road this morning (Monday).
It is alleged that the driver of the vehicle was leaving home to go to work when the ground gave in on land which is being excavated next to her property. The next thing she knew was that her car was at a 45º angle and the back of the vehicle had been literally swallowed by the earth.
Another house is currently being built on this land, but no markings have been put up to warn motorists that the ground is potentially unstable.
Other residents in the area are questioning why the area has not been cordoned off while the work is being done.
Public Safety responded to the scene.
