At Hospice House in High Street, one entire room and part of a second room are devoted to shelves of these books. Volunteers have sorted them, so it is easy to browse through them. Biographies, gardening, cooking, novels, romances, inspirational etc etc – if you’re a reader you will find something that you want to read, in English and/or Afrikaans. It’s almost guaranteed.

Some are virtually new, some are older, from Wilbur Smith to William Shakespeare, and the surprise will come when you check the prices. These are bargain books.

Hospice House is open on weekdays until 1:00pm.
