The shocking rape of a 12-year-old school boy in Dundee last week, has left many traumatised.
Police said the boy was walking home from school in the vicinity of the Browning and Victoria Streets intersection when a man roughly grabbed him, pushed him into a nearby clump of bushes and forced him onto his stomach before sodomising the youngster.
Later, the boy’s mother, who was believed to have been walking in town, came across her son who was in tears.
They then reported the case to police. Simphiwe Mkhize (25) was arrested later that day for the rape.
The Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit are investigating the matter.
Mr Mkhize appeared in court on January 29, where he was remanded in custody pending a formal bail hearing and request for legal aid.
He will appear again today.
