Interruptions to water services imminent

The pipeline is needed as an integral part of future infrastructure upgrades and service improvement plans.

Action has been taken to address some of the issues related to the growing need for an improved water service delivery infrastructure in Newcastle.

This comes in the form of the installation of a 700mm diameter steel pipeline, which will be added to the current infrastructure system on Friday, January 30.

The pipeline will be connected to the existing pump-station at the Newcastle Showgrounds (Farmer’s Hall).

According to Municipal Manager, Kebone Masange, this pipeline is needed as an integral part of future infrastructure upgrades and service improvement plans.

“Residents have been advised to use water sparingly and not water their gardens on this day,” advised the MM, while apologising for any inconvenience caused come this Friday.

The following areas will be affected: CBD/Town, Central, Arbor Park, Newcastle Mall, Casino, Karbochem, and Vlam Industrial area, Fairleigh, Lennoxton, Paradise and Fernwood.

The scheduled time-frame of the installation is from 8am to 12pm (noon).

Residents were also reminded to continue reporting any water leaks, burst pipes and to fix any leaks on their properties to save water.
